TF High Chapter 8: Hands on situation

A cheetah, a fox, 3 dogs, an elephant, and a teenage boy, It was an odd sight in the Travis Fortmasion High School gym, or it would have been if not for the resent outbreak of animal transformations that left students looking like animals.

Despite their new looks however most of the students continued their life as normally as possible. Some students became even more popular after their change, much to the confusion of a seemingly overworked and frustrated Herb Webber. “I just don’t get it,” Herb said as he placed down a box of decorations the group was supposed to put up.

“We all volunteered to set up for the dance weeks ago. But now that they’ve all become the most popular kids around they think they can sit back and chat, while I take care of everything!” Herb looked up at the odd group of students as they chatted away. “I don’t see what’s so great about them anyway. I mean what about changing into part animal is so great anyway?”

“Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it.” Says Joey as he hopped up. Joey was the most resent transformee, he had been changed into a Kangaroo during long jump in P.E., he also happened to be one of Herbs best friends.  “Oh good you’re here!” Herb said as he started pulling out streamers from the boxes. “I could really use the help.” “Well I wish I could but I have to go to the vet.” Joey replied.

“Oh really? Why? Does your dog need shots?” Herb asks “No, I do.” Joey replied. “But I’ll talk to the guys and see if I can get an extra hand or two to help you.” Joey said as he placed a water bottle down in Herb’s box as he hopped off, Herb began mumbling under his breath.  

        “Great more talking,” he said as he reached for the water bottle and took a drink. “It would be faster to grow a few more limbs and finish myself.” Placing down the water bottle and getting a ladder set to place the banner up, Herb is about to find himself seeing from a much different point of view.

  As Herb reaches the top of the ladder he stretches out his arm to hang the banner, but finds it is now stuck to his hand. “What the??? Is there some tape stuck on this thing?” Finally ripping the banner from his hand, Herb is shocked to find that it is now covered in short hairs.

“What the hell is this?!?” Herb yells as he begins to feel pressure points on his sides and back. As the hair from his hands travels across his arms, he finds that pressure is increasing. Finally his clothes give way, first the shirt revealing a new pair of hair covered arms, followed by the seat of his pants, which has now been changed into a large hairy abdomen to make his now hairy spider-like legs.

Unable to support the weight of his new back section Herb yells. “I can’t get a grip, I’m ganna fall!” Finding himself slipping Herb clenches his now changing eyes. As Herb begins to fall his new back legs begin their trick, spinning a silk line and slowing Herbs decent.

Herb opens his new composite eyes, which fit his new spider-like face well. “Wow so that’s what it is like to be a transformee.” He says, “Well I got to hand it to Joey, I shouldn’t have knocked it till I tried it.” Looking over at the other’s Herb saw they hadn’t even paid attention to his yelling earlier, they were still chatting away like nothing happened.

“Well doesn’t that tick me off…Hum, why do ticks sound like a good snack right now? Oh well I can finish decorating myself.” Herb said has he began grabbing decorations and spinning web…

It was a hour or so later when Joey hopped in. Most of the decorations were up, many hanging by shining silk cords, and Herb was nowhere to be found. “Wow this place looks great, hey Herb you’re doing a great job! I came back to see if you could use a hand or two!” “No Thanks,” Herb said as he suddenly appeared dangling from a silk cord above Joey, “I already got a couple extra.” He said as he showed off his new limbs.

Joey scared silly stood there babbling for a moment. “ Spi…spi..spi..spider.” He finally said as he almost fell backward yet managing to catch himself with his tail. “Oh I’m sorry,” Herb said as he stepped onto the floor, “I forgot you have arachnophobia. It wasn’t my first choice but I guess I’m stuck with it.”

“Tha…That’s ok,” Joey said with a gulp, “If you’re a spider now I’ll just have to deal with it. Just promise me one thing.” “What’s that?” Herb asked. “That you…you won’t suck out my blood.” Joey said. “I’m a spider not a tick Joey…Umm, there I go thinking about ticks again. You wouldn’t happen to know where I could get some would ya?”
